Loyola Press, a Chicago-based Catholic publisher, is seeking a Project Editor to carry out the editorial development of curriculum products from writing to file release.


  • Write and edit educational material for quality, accuracy, consistency, and age-appropriateness.
  • Assess manuscript for adherence to content guidelines and specifications.
  • Rewrite and rework manuscript as needed to ensure that it meets high standards and project objectives.
  • Provide prompt, specific, and constructive feedback to writers.
  • Receive coaching from Managing Editor and incorporate comments from managers’ content reviews.
  • Evaluate and input copyediting and proofreading changes.
  • Research and fact check to ensure accuracy of content.
  • Work collaboratively with designers and production artists, and review art and layout to ensure it effectively supports text.
  • Complete projects within designated timeframes while maintaining quality of content. 


The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or an applicable communications field. He/she must have publishing experience with excellent writing, communication, and content development skills. The candidate will also have an understanding of editorial processes and best practices, the ability to meet frequent deadlines, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, preferably with InCopy experience. Familiarity with Ignatian Spirituality and Catholic and public school marketplace a plus. Fluency in Spanish a plus. All candidates will be required to take an editorial test.
