DIRECTOR OF MARKETING - Curriculum Materials

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Director of Marketing – Curriculum Materials will drive revenue and achieve business objectives by developing marketing strategies and overseeing plans for curriculum materials and Loyola Press brand across all media and distribution channels; building external relationships; gathering and analyzing market information; and managing staff to execute plans and propel overall business health.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute annual marketing plans to achieve sales and marketing goals.
  • Train, manage, and mentor the curriculum resource marketing team to grow marketing acumen and ensure that all team members successfully execute annual marketing plans.
  • Maintain and build diocesan relationships in partnership with sales staff to ensure we are meeting current and future market needs.
  • Plan and conduct market research, and focus groups, in conjunction with New Product Development.
  • Plan and conduct customer experience research, guiding the marketing department to become a center of excellence for surveys and concept testing.
  • Network with Catholic school and parish influencers at the site level to build LP brand and product awareness; collect information; and facilitate partnerships for cross promotion and new product development.
  • Collect, analyze, and share competitor information; develop strategic responses, and identify opportunities and/or potential risks.
  • Work in partnership with Marketing Director Trade to ensure LP cross-promotional plans are executed.
  • Collaborate with Sales Director to develop annual sales goals by product and drive revenue.

ABOUT YOU

  • College Degree required
  • Minimum 7 years publishing marketing management experience
  • K8 Teaching Experience
  • Ability to travel approximately 15%

DESIRABLES

  • Familiarity with Catholic parish and school markets
  • Understanding of financial reporting and sales trend analysis

WEB DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Manage web developer team to create, design, support, and maintain all web based front and back end applications.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages web developer team to ensure they are executing assigned projects in an effective and timely way to deliver accurate and quality results.
  • Partners with the Technology Services Executive Project Manager on all web application projects to ensure they are properly scheduled and resources assigned.
  • Collaborates with marketing and new product development teams to understand and solve their web application needs, including maintaining and modifying existing applications along with creating approved new applications.
  • Ensures that all web based applications are functional and up to date. This includes blogs, web integration components, Chapels, mobile applications, web databases, and internal web applications such as the daily billing integration, manufacturing database, digital curriculum, and video portal.
  • Identifies application weaknesses and recommends solutions that utilize the most efficient and current technologies to improve the application.
  • Creates and maintains data integration components used by SL, Salesforce, and loyolapress.com web site. Ensures these data integration components are available and functioning properly.
  • Wireframes, codes, and tests new application builds.
  • Responsible for the management of web server infrastructure, both external and internal, encompassing traditional and cloud-based technologies.
  • Writes clear, concise, and complete documentation on all changes to existing applications and new builds.
  • Partners with external technology support vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous team management experience.
  • Expert level expertise with PHP and Javascript.
  • Experience with managing an AWS platform.
  • Experience with relational databases (MSSQL & MySQL)
  • Experience with JQuery, CSS, AJAX
  • Experience with large-scale web sites and applications.
  • Experience with version control software (Subversion, Git, etc.)
  • Experience with web service APIs.
  • Working knowledge of DNS, A records, CNAMES, etc.

SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

ABOUT THE POSITION
Assist in the execution of online marketing strategies by sustaining and growing our current online communities and creating content that promotes awareness of our brand and resources to drive curriculum and trade revenue.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Curriculum and Trade through web, email and social support of product campaigns by
    • Sharing content: writing, researching, and/or assigning long- and short-form articles and other types of online content
    • Responding as multiple social media “voices” as needed by customer segment
    • Contributing to strategies and execution of cross-promotional plans for curriculum, trade, and brand goals
    • Working closely with Web Editor in developing/implementing online content
    • Monitor social media channels for engagement of/response to audiences, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other related sites
    • Stay abreast of and implement social media best practices and tools

ABOUT YOU:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Media, Communications, or related field
  • 2+ years of marketing and social media experience
  • Knowledge of Catholicism and/or Catholic parish or school experience
  • Effective communication skills including listening, writing, and editing
  • Ability to communicate effectively, collaborate and work closely with others
  • Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking skills
  • Ability/flexibility to respond quickly to marketing opportunities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Hootsuite

DESIRABLES:

  • Publishing experience
  • Familiarity with Ignatian spirituality
  • Familiarity with Hispanic Catholic Market and bicultural sensitivity
