Activity Objective

To become familiar with how to find passages in the Old Testament

Lesson Outcome

The children will be able to locate Bible passages in the Old Testament using the format of book, chapter, and verse.

Materials

  • Bibles (one for each pair of children)

Directions

  • Divide the children into pairs, and give one Bible to each pair.
  • Review how to locate Bible passages.
  • Explain that each pair is responsible for finding the passage from the Bible that you will write on the board.
  • Tell the pairs to work as quickly as possible to locate the passage, and when they find it, to raise their hands.
  • Call on the pair that raises their hands first, and have them identify the page number of the passage.
  • Make sure all of the children locate the passage, and have a spokesperson read the indicated passage aloud.
