Activity Objective

To tell the story of Jesus' rising from the dead

Lesson Outcome

The children will be able to tell the story of Jesus' Resurrection.

Materials

  • Bibles
  • Poster board
  • Coloring materials

Directions

  • Spend some time discussing what the children already know about the story of Jesus' rising.
  • When you feel they are ready to move on, call their attention to Luke 24:1-8.
  • Invite the children to open their Bibles to the passage and ask for volunteers to read it aloud.
  • After the reading, encourage the children to ask questions they might have about the story.
  • Then ask the children to think of a way that they would like to retell the story. Suggest ideas such as a drawing, role-play, pantomime, oral retelling, interview, and so on.
  • Allow the children to work in pairs or small groups if they like.
  • Invite the children to present their retellings to the group.
  • Close by saying: We learn many things about Jesus. Too often we forget what we learned and need to be reminded by reading the Scriptures and listening to stories about Jesus' life.
