Activity Objective

To explore the story of the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt

Lesson Outcome

The children will be able to demonstrate their understanding of the meaning of the angel's words ?Do not be afraid.?

Materials

  • Colored paper
  • Large poster paper
  • Crayons, markers, pens, and pencils

Directions

  • Invite the children to recall what they know about the Holy Family's flight to Egypt.
  • Then say to the children: The Holy Family had to flee for their lives, but they were not afraid because God's angel told them that they would be safe.
  • Ask the children to think of a time when they were afraid and then to draw a picture of the event, including an angel telling them ?Do not be afraid.?
  • Provide the children with colored paper and other coloring materials that they might want to use for their visual representations.
  • Once the children have finished, invite them to share their visual representations with the rest of the children.
  • If possible, display their visuals somewhere in the room. Otherwise, encourage the children to share their artwork with family members at home.
