Doing Good for Others Bucket

Activity Objective

To teach the children the importance of doing good for others

Lesson Outcome

The children will understand that the Holy Spirit helps us do good.

Materials

  • Strips of paper (one for each child)
  • Pencils
  • Bucket

Directions

  • Discuss with the children the importance of doing good for others. Then tell them that they are going to think of a good deed they have done and write it on a strip of paper.
  • Pass out the materials.
  • Ask the children about good deeds they have done in the past and record their answers on the board.
  • Guide the children to think of deeds that are easy to do.
  • Encourage the children to write their good deeds on their slips of paper and then put them in the Doing Good for Others Bucket.
  • Pass the bucket around to each child so each chooses a good deed.
  • Encourage the children to try to do the good deeds as soon as possible.
  • Conclude by reminding them that the Holy Spirit will help them do their good deeds.

Design a "Doing Good Deeds for Others" Bucket.

Generate a list of good deeds on the board to help the children get started.

Keep the good deeds very simple, such as: say please and thank you, pick up whatever someone drops near you, help your mom set the table.

Encourage the children to think of as many different examples as possible.
