Follower of Jesus Web

Decision to Follow Jesus

Activity Objective

To allow the children to brainstorm examples of people who made a decision to follow Jesus

Lesson Outcome

The children will identify people in their lives and in the world who made a decision to follow Jesus.

Materials

  • Chalkboard

Directions

  • Gather the children around the board.
  • Tell them that they are going to make a Follower of Jesus web for people who had to make good decisions to follow him. Explain that Jesus is at the center of the web.
  • Draw a spoke and a circle coming out of the web and write the name Saint Ignatius Loyola, whom you just discussed. Remind the children that Ignatius had to make a decision to follow Jesus.
  • Ask the children for other examples of people they have learned about or people they know who made good decisions to follow Jesus. Possible answers may include the saints the children have been studying this year. This could serve as a review of saints such as Francis of Assisi, Joseph, Vincent de Paul, Peter, Andrew, and others.
