Directions

Week One

  • Discuss with the group that there are families who do not have enough food every day.
  • Brainstorm with the children about what kinds of food would be good to share with a hungry family.
  • Ask the children to work at home to earn food for a hungry family.
  • Show the children your laundry basket and talk about filling it with food for a hungry family or for your local food pantry.
  • Send a letter home with the children describing the project; ask the families to have the children do chores to earn the food.


Week Two

  • Set the laundry basket out in reach of the children.
  • As the children to enter the classroom, tell them to place their food in the laundry basket.
  • Invite your catechetical leader or a representative from the food pantry in your area to visit and accept the basket from the group.
