Imaginary Interviews

Activity Objective

The young people will focus on the accounts of the encounters with the risen Christ in the Gospels.

Lesson Outcome

The young people will be able to describe the disciples' discovery of Jesus' empty tomb and their encounters with the risen Christ.

Materials

  • Bibles

Directions

  • Direct the students to write imaginary interviews with the people in the Gospels to whom the risen Jesus appeared.
  • The students could interview such eyewitnesses as Simon Peter, John, Mary, Mary Magdalene, the women at the tomb, Thomas, the disciples on the road to Emmaus, the apostles, the soldiers at the tomb, Pontius Pilate, or the chief priests.
  • Have them search the following passages:

Matthew 28:1-15

Mark 16:1-8,9-13

Luke 24:1-12,13-35,36-43

John 20:1-10,11-18,19-23,24-29

  • Collect the interviews and put them together to make an eyewitness booklet for the entire group to read.
