Lord, I Am Not Worthy

Activity Objective

To teach children that they can show their faith in Jesus by following his example of caring for all people

Lesson Outcome

The children will draw a picture to show how Jesus works through them to reach all people.

Materials

  • Drawing paper
  • Crayons

Directions

  • Tell the children that in this activity, they will have a chance to think about their faith in Jesus and how they can be like him in reaching out to others.
  • Tell the children we say words of faith like the Roman officer when we are at Mass. Ask them when we do this. (before we receive Communion)
  • Talk about how Jesus showed he cared for the officer and how we can be like him in caring for others.
  • Give the children drawing paper and crayons. Invite them to draw a picture of themselves reaching out to someone in need.
  • Tell the children that on the back, they may write a short prayer to Jesus, thanking him for the great gift of faith and telling him about their picture.
  • Have a sharing time for those who would like to share with the group.
  • Conclude by inviting the children to join you in praying: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. Remind the children to show their faith in their actions toward others.
