Lost and Found

Parable of the Lost Sheep

Activity Objective

To teach the children that God will always help us come back to him

Lesson Outcome

The children will be able to identify Jesus as the Good Shepherd who cares for us.

Directions

  • Remind the children of the Parable of the Lost Sheep:

Jesus said, "Always remember that each person is important to God. An angel in heaven watches over each of them."

Jesus continued, "What do you think about this? A man has a hundred sheep. If one of them gets lost, he will leave the other 99 and search for the one lost sheep."

Jesus went on, "And id he finds that lost sheep, he is happier with it than he is with the other 99 sheep."?

"That is also what your heavenly Father wants. He does not want one single person to be lost."

  • Explain that once the shepherd finds his sheep he feels overjoyed.
  • Arrange the children in pairs.
  • Invite them to tell their partners a story of something they lost and then found and describe how they felt when they found it.
  • Remind the children that God will always search for us when we are lost.
