Pretty Baby, Wonderful Gift

To help the children realize that just as Jesus was a special gift to Mary, they are special gifts to their parents

The children will recognize a baby as a special gift of God and will be thankful to their families for their special care.

• The children's baby pictures

• Tell the children that this activity will allow them to share stories about the love in their families.
• Invite the children to join you at your gathering place with their baby pictures. Remind the children that they know of the love expressed in the Holy Family, and they know how their own family members love and care for each other.
• Invite the children to take turns showing their baby pictures to the group and sharing a favorite family baby story about themselves.
• When all the children have shared, tell them how wonderful and full of love their stories were. Remind them how much their families do for them every day.
• Conclude by telling the children to follow the example of Jesus and Mary in loving and caring for family members.

People Smart, Self Smart

Plan ahead and have the children ask their parents for a baby picture of themselves they can bring to class. Tell them to make sure their names are on the back of the pictures and assure them they will get them back.

Caution the children to respect each other's pictures.
