The Glory Be with Actions

To pray the Glory Be to the Father using gestures

The children will use gestures to associate the words with the meanings of the Doxology.

• Have the children form a circle.
• Lead the group in the following hand motions for the Glory Be to the Father.
• When you pray, "As it was in the Beginning," stretch your arms out parallel to the ground. When you pray, "Is now and ever shall be," stretch your arm straight above your head. When you pray, "World without End," curve your arms around as if you were carrying the world in your arms, with your finger tips touching one another. When you say, "Amen," fold your hands together in prayer.
• Repeat the prayer asking the children to watch you put all the actions together.
• Have the children join you in the prayer the next time.

Body Smart

Make sure the children have room to spread out so that they don't accidentally hit others or objects around them while praying the prayer.

If there are children in your group with special needs (physical, visual, hearing, language, or behavioral disabilities), adapt the activity accordingly.
