Welcome Cards

To the Newly Baptized

Activity Objective

To make welcome cards to give to the newly baptized of the parish

Lesson Outcome

The children will understand that we become part of God's family at Baptism.

Materials

  • White card stock
  • Markers and crayons

Directions

  • Ask the children how they feel when they receive a card or letter in the mail.
  • Tell the children that they are going to make cards welcoming all the newly baptized people of the parish. Most likely these cards will be made for babies, but their parents can read them and keep them for their children.
  • Brainstorm together words or messages they might include and write them on the board such as "Welcome to the family," and so on.
  • Encourage the children to add bright colors and decorations to the cards.
  • Remind them to include some of the symbols of Baptism.
  • Let the children know that after these cards are collected, you will be giving them to the rectory so they can give them to all those who are newly baptized at your parish.
