The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones; and the person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones.

After leaving a stressful professional position, my friend Kim took a low-paying office job. The first day, her new boss asked her to do some filing. There was quite a stack; evidently the person she’d replaced had not made filing a priority. So Kim started alphabetizing and made a day of it. The very next morning, the boss gave her a substantial raise. For practicing her alphabet! She figured if Kim took such care with the files, she could trust her with anything.
