Naming the Apostles

Activity Objective:

To become more familiar with the names of the 12 apostles

Lesson Outcome:

The children should be able to identify the apostles by name.

Materials

Directions:

Cut the index cards into four smaller pieces.
Take the names of the apostles from Acts of the Apostles 1:13 (include Matthias) and write each letter of each name on the small index card pieces.
Invite volunteers (in pairs if you have a large group) to come forward and unscramble the letters of an apostle's name.
Instruct the volunteers to put the letters in the correct order, spelling each name.
Allow sufficient time for the volunteers to spell the apostles' names.
Explain that they are to glue the letters in the correct order on the paper you have provided.
Conclude by displaying the apostles' names.
