CHICAGO, May 2020—The 24th annual Independent Publisher Book Awards announced this year’s winning titles, including Loyola Press’s MicroShifts: Transforming Your Life One Step at a Time by Gary Jansen (February 2019).

MicroShifts was recognized as the bronze medalist in the Inspirational/Spiritual category. The book has become even more relevant to readers during the coronavirus pandemic, when people have been looking for ways to motivated spiritually as well as notice positivity in life day-to-day during a strange time of isolation.

Jansen blends masterful storytelling and dozens of practical tips in the book while suggesting simple, small changes, “microshifts,” across many aspects of our lives—everything from how we sleep to how we deal with the incessant chatter in our own heads—to generate big results physically, mentally, and spiritually.

“I wrote MicroShifts as a love letter to my two sons, but also as a love letter to anyone who struggles with existence. Saying life can be tough is an understatement, but by taking small steps and making small changes in how we think and act we can create big changes.
